the working work environment

Countless campaigns on a greener environment has been done before in the Philippines, but never have i heared of a campaign dedicated to greening one's workplace.

DENR-Environmental Management Bureau's records show that the second major pollutant in the Philippines, next to households, are those who belong to the Business/Industrial sector, These are managers, business owners and simple employees whos main objective for work is to find a living, little do they know that as they strive to gain "life" everyday, the environment loses it's own life every minute, every second; And the sad truth is as the environment dies, so do we. Thus, the need for such campaign to promote awareness; A campaign to make a "working" environment through the work-environment.

For the campaign to reach greater heights a partenrship with Hewlett-Packard Philippines will be established. Why HP?

The Technological and Information Technology Industries are presently considered the “sunrise” industries in the country. Technology has rapidly improved through the years making the Philippines smaller and smaller everyday as major improvements in communication, transportation are taking place.

Despite the many benefits we get from the improvement in technology, this industry has also been considered a major pollutants in the country. Aside from a lot of electronic equipment containing hazardous and toxic materials this equipment are most of the time, non-recyclable; Discharge of used-up electronic equipment add up to the pile of un-recyclable junk we keep in our dumpsites/junkyards causing harmful substances to be later introduced to the environment.

As an international "GREEN-GIANT" HP has always advocated for a greener lifestyle not only in I.T. but basically in everything that man does at home or in work. (they actually co-sponsor green.yahoo.com) It would be great for someone who, technically, belong to the cause of the problem to make a stand in being of help in solving the issue, plus, a partnership with a member of the private sector wouls somehow minimize "politics" that could possibly lessen the credibility of the campaign if sponsored by gov't and/or NGOs.

Internal benefits are countless but external gains are priceless, for us and the environment.

Add life as you find Life, Green your workplace!
